첫째: 다섯 번의 암의 걸렸을 때 마다 하나님께 서약하며 기도하기를 “저의 암을 고쳐 주시면 하나님께서 부르시는 그날까지 선교를 중단하지 않겠습니다.” 라고 서약하며 기도했습니다. 그 결과 하나님께서 5번의 암을 모두 고쳐 주셔서 지금의 내가 비록 86세 (1939년생) 이지만 젊은 이 못지 않게 건강하게 선교할 수 있는데 나 어찌 선교를 중단할 수 있겠습니까?

둘째: 러시아에서 32년 동안 선교하고 있었지만 전쟁 때문에 미국 시민권자는 러시아에 입국이 거부되어 부득이 선교지를 우크라이나로 옮기게 되었습니다. 우크라이나는 전쟁으로 인하여 삶의 터전을 잃고 고통 당하는 사람들이 너무 많아서 그들을 구제하며 복음을 전하고 있습니다.

세쨰: 우크라이나 교회도 많이 많이 파괴되었고 교회 재정이 어려움으로 재정적인 도움이 절실히 요구됩니다.

넷째: 저를 아시는 목사님들은 거의 은퇴하셨고 이미 천국에 가신 분들이 많아서 제가 선교비 도움을 받기가 참으로 어렵습니다. 여러분의 도움이 절실히 요구됩니다 제가 하나님 나라에 가기 전까지 우크라이나 선교를 계속할 수 있도록 기도와 선교비로 도와 주시기를 간절히 청원드립니다.

Why I, Rev. Paul Kim, cannot stop my mission work for Ukraine

First: Every time I was diagnosed with cancer — five times — I prayed and made a vow to God: “If You heal me, I will never stop my mission work until You call me home.” By God’s grace, He healed me from cancer all five times. Even though I am now 86 years old (born in 1939), I am healthy and still full of energy like a young person. How then could I possibly end my mission work?

Second: I had served in Russia for 32 years, but due to the war, U.S. citizens are no longer allowed to enter Russia — so I unavoidably moved my mission base to Ukraine. In Ukraine, there are so many people who have lost their homes and are suffering because of the war. I am providing relief to them while sharing the Gospel.

Third: Many churches in Ukraine have been destroyed, and church finances are in dire condition. Financial support is desperately needed for the churches to continue.

Fourth: Most of the pastors who know me have already retired or gone to heaven, so it’s very difficult for me to receive regular missionary support. I earnestly appeal for your help — through prayer and financial support — so that I may continue serving in Ukraine until the day God calls me home.
